SUELLEN HAAG
Suellen Haag, Managing Director of the Sokolow Dance Foundation holds a BA in Art Education
from Kutztown University and an MFA in Modern Dance Performance from the Philadelphia
College of the Performing Arts. She has also studied at the Martha Graham
School of Contemporary Dance and the Limon Institute, both in NYC.
Most notably, Ms Haag is a member of SOKOLOW NOW!.
Performing credits also include numerous independent
performance projects in Philadelphia and New York
and dancing with Anna Sokolow's Players’ Project
in New York for five years.

Ms Haag was a founding member of Dancefusion, a contemporary modern dance company based in Philadelphia, PA.
As a company member she has performed the choreography of such notable choreographers as Anna Sokolow,
Pauline Konor, and Mary Anthony. In addition to performing, Ms. Haag has choreographed for
Dancefusion and the junior company, fusion 2.

Ms Haag has been on the faculty of the Pottstown Dance Theatre, Gwendolyn Bye Dance Center, Allentown College,
all in PA; Peridance, NY; and a guest instructor at Keimyung University, South Korea. She has also taught as a guest
at Villanova University, Kutztown University and Budzinsky Studios, both in PA; American College Dance Festival,
University of Delaware, DE; and the Stable, Brooklyn, NY.
Since 1998 Ms Haag has been assisting Lorry May, Founding Director of the Sokolow Dance Foundation,
with reconstructions, teaching Sokolow Legacy Workshops and in archiving the vast repertory of Anna Sokolow.
Ms Haag also presents Sokolow Etude Workshops and lectures on the life and work of Anna Sokolow.
In 2002 she helped Ms. May to establish the Sokolow Dance Foundation.
In 1997, Ms Haag received a Dance Advance Grant, funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts for the creation
of Sokolow’s last work, Shadowed Sun, a duet for which she danced the female role. In 2003, she and
Ms May wrote and received a Dance Advance grant for the reclaiming of Time +, which had no visual archives.
